We’re pleased to share that PetroStrat has activated a new multiclient study;
A West and Southwesterly Extension to the Garn & Sub-Garn Formations (Ile, Tofte, Tilje) reservoir quality databases
Study At A Glance
- Expanding on our Garn (2022) and Sub-Garn (2023) studies, integrating 14 new wells within the west and southwest ‘chlorite province’, around the recent the Mistral South discovery.
- Generating new core descriptions (1:200 scale) across ~770 m of core.
- Integrating new petrography, QEMSCAN, XRD & SEM analyses to explore relationships between facies, provenance, chlorite content, diagenesis, and reservoir properties.
- Producing GIS-based maps for key Jurassic time slices (J30 to J100), combining data across both original studies, and this extension.
- Our geologically integrated workflow seeks to document and explore depositional and diagenetic relationships associated with preservation of reservoir quality under deep burial. Pore lining, or grain coating chlorite can play a significant role in creating positive off-trend anomalies in porosity & permeability reduction with depth.
