Key points
- 434 samples newly analysed biostratigraphically, alongside re-review of existing reports
- New 1:50 scale core descriptions of 348m from 7 wells, with 31 samples analysed petrographically and 10 samples for XRD/SEM analyses
- Emphasis on documenting chlorite coatings vs. quartz overgrowths, as controls upon reservoir controls
- Integrated biostratigraphy and reservoir geology of sandstone and claystone lithologies of the Early Jurassic Cook Formation, northern Tampen Area, North Viking Graben
- Drilled and released wells in blocks 34/3, 34/5 and 34/6 (Jordbaer, Blaebaer and Garantiana) are significant in understanding sandstone character and
distribution - Sub‐regional stratigraphic variability, geographic distribution of sands, reworking and microfacies/palynofacies of the Cook Formation, as well as gross reservoir
geological characteristics - Study completed during 2017 and ready for delivery with all supporting data
- Integrated micropalaeontology, palynology, petrophysics (for lithology and porosity) and sedimentology has significantly improved stratigraphic resolution
- Palaeontology at 3‐6m spacing (where available); focused on cored intervals to provide a consistent, high-resolution database
- Core descriptions undertaken, together with petrography of core samples
Deliverables
- PetroStrat zonations and chronostratigraphy are interpreted and calibrated to GTS 2012
- Integration of wireline logs with interpreted lithostratigraphy sensu NPD and MFSs sensu Charnock et al., 2001 with interpreted core descriptions and petrographic observations
- Palaeoenvironmental interpretation based on microfacies, palynofacies, core sedimentology and log pattern interpretation.
- Biostratigraphy and sedimentology driven sequence correlations of all the 7 study wells
- Time-slice maps included
- All new data are available graphically in soft copy as .pdf report and digitally , .csv files and StrataBugs .dex files as standard
