Wales sets its sights on becoming a global hydrogen hub by 2030
Wales is taking its first steps on the road to becoming a key player in this emerging sector. The region already hosts several pilot projects, demonstrating the government’s commitment to supporting low-carbon hydrogen production as part of its broader Net Zero strategy.
The Welsh Parliament’s recent Hydrogen Research Briefing outlines a bold vision for the sector. The document calls for a push to increase Welsh hydrogen production by 2030. Additionally, the briefing highlights the need for storage networks and distribution infrastructure to unlock hydrogen’s potential. Hydrogen Cymru brings together government, industry, and technical experts to examine the role of hydrogen in helping Wales meet its Net Zero goals. The programme explores current projects, infrastructure developments, policy updates and the long-term outlook for hydrogen deployment across the region.
